You Really Can Achieve Your Goals
"Whether you think you can, or you think you can't, you're right." - Henry Ford

Do you feel that you can become great?
Keep away from those who try to belittle your ambitions.
Small people always do that, but the really great make you believe that you too can become great.
Small people always do that, but the really great make you believe that you too can become great.
Mark Twain
Your Support Mechanism
Do you have a support mechanism that really does support you?
Can you talk to the people around about your fears and your ambitions?
Do they provide you with the support you need?
Do they make you believe that you really can achieve your goals?
Do you sometimes feel as if you're on your own, and you don't know where to turn?
The truth is that many of us don't really have a support mechanism that really does support.
We're embarrassed to talk about our dreams and aspirations.
We think our friends and family won't understand, or will belittle us and our dreams, so we don't bother to talk about it.
We think we can do it all ourselves.
But can we really?
The old proverb says that behind every great man is a great woman. That's obviously incredible sexist, offensive and outdated, but it evidences the fact that throughout history, there has been an acknowledgement that everyone needs support.
Support takes many forms
The truth is that the support we need varies from time to time, and from person to person.
We might:
- just need people to allow us the freedom to pursue our dreams.
- need someone to listen and not to judge
- need someone to help us when we get stuck
- need people to believe in us
There are many, many other types of support that we may need from time to time.
We don't have to rely on the same person or people for all types of support.
That's why we often talk about a support network.
Develop yours, and once you have, use it wisely.
It's one of the most important things you will ever have.

Do Your Best, Then Get Better
It's really easy to make excuses.
If you're not sure how to do something, the easy answer is to just not bother.
But then you don't make any progress, and I think we all know that some progress is ALWAYS better than none.
So do the best you can.
It might not be perfect but you will learn from the experience, and you will make progress.
Remember:
"It's better to have tried and failed than never to have tried"
Also, in the words of Thomas Edison, "I haven't failed. I've just found 10,000 ways that won't work".
The key is to keep on learning.
And as you learn, you know more.
And as you know more, your best gets better and better.
Keep learning.
Keep Getting Better.

5 Reasons to Keep Going
Today didn't start well.
I lost an hour and a half of my morning trying to get to a place where I could start to be productive.
Let's me honest, in real terms, that's not a big deal - it's just a little annoying - but it is just the sort of thing that can easily have stopped me in my tracks.
It can be really easy to use such things as an excuse to write off the whole day.
But today, I'm determined to stay positive and persevere.
Here are my top 5 reasons to Keep Going
1. I'm already ahead of the game, and I don't want to allow myself to fall back into the pack?
2. I know that if I can keep on going, eventually, I will succeed
3. The minor irritations of my morning are nothing at all compared to the genuine hardships some people have to endure.
4. I may not have made much progress so far today, but I have made some, and some progress is much better than none!
5. It's up to me to succeed. I can blame someone or something, or I can just get right on and do it.
It's my choice, and I want to make the right one
I hope your found this useful and that it will help you to keep on going when the going gets a little tough!

Know Your Dream
Do You Really Know Your Dream?
- What is your dream?
Can you describe it exactly, or is it all a bit vague? - How will you know when you've achieved it?
If you can't describe it exactly, then how do you know?
If your dream is to be happy, or rich, but you don't know exactly what that means, how will you ever know you've reached it? - What will you do TODAY to bring that dream closer?
If you don't take action, then that dream will remain exactly as it is - a dream.
Nothing will happen unless you take action! - Do you have a plan?
Action is all very well, but you need to know you're moving in the right direction.
If you don't have a plan, how do you know that you are? - Do you know the steps you need to take along the way?
This is the small stuff.
The stuff you need to do to achieve your plan.
The stuff it's really easy to forget
The Importance of Habits
Many of the steps you need to take will become habit, and it's important that you make sure they do.
Good habits are hard to form but really easy to break.
Bad habits are easy to form and really hard to break!
It's critical to your success that you form good habits and that you NEVER make excuses to yourself.
It's really easy to think 'I won't bother today'. But in truth it makes is very much easier not to bother tomorrow either, and very soon that habit isbroken!

Today is a great day...Tomorrow will be even better
Today is an important day for me.
I have decided that I needed a guide to help me reach my full potential, and today I found one.
I've chosen someone with a proven track record of success (of course), but also someone I believe I can work with. As always, you never really know until you try, but I am very optimistic, and feeling excited.
I hope very much that I shall be writing from a position of achievement soon - I know that I will be doing just that at some time; it's only the 'when' that I'm not sure about.
I've chosen John Thornhill's 'Partnership to Success', and I'll keep you all updated on progress at www.carl-melton.com.
I hope you follow me, and even more, I hope you inspired to go for your own dreams.
Here's to a bright tomorrow!
